Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)

What is SEO?

SEO stands for ‘search engine optimisation’. It’s how you win at Google. Let’s say you own a winery. If your business is doing SEO right, your website and brand name will appear on the first page of Bing, Yahoo, Ask Jeeves and of course, Google.

If you search for something as specific as ‘Mornington Peninsula Winery’, Google will return over 600,000 potential matches. Unless you’re on the first page of search results, there’s little chance your website will be discovered.

There are many forms of search engines and many ways for people to search. Your SEO strategy will depend on what you want to achieve as a business.

Some things to consider regarding your SEO:

Is it easy for Google to identify and recognise your website?

Does your website have the right keywords and metatags that match the searches you want to appear in?

Does Google show enticing images of your location?

Can Google and Apple Maps locate and promote your business for you?

Are you listed on as many relevant directories as possible?

Are you being featured on any other websites with links back to your site?

Is social media well integrated into your website and driving traffic to it?

Are you consistently posting new and fresh content?

Do you have video content (becoming increasingly more important)?

Are you receiving numerous and positive reviews on TripAdvsior or Zomato etc?

There are a number of ways to increase your Google ranking to ‘optimise’ your search results. It’s essential to ensure Google deems your website relevant so that it puts your website on the first page of the search results.

Building and maintaining your search engine capabilities is an ongoing process. Ensuring your website is easily found is key to starting initial relationships with customers that might not know you exist yet, but are searching for exactly what you have to offer. Being highly ranked on Google is the difference between new customers discovering you or walking into your competition down the road.

We can help conduct an audit of your current level of SEO optimisation and create a plan to help you boost your ranking. We can work with you on a one-off project, intermittently or on an ongoing retainer basis.
